Message from IES President
Lunar New Year Greetings
Dear IES members,
As we usher in the Year of the Dragon, I am reminded of the strength, resilience and valour associated with this mythical creature - traits that resonate deeply with the engineering profession.
Throughout history, engineers have continuously shaped our world into better places using these distinctive qualities. As we stand in the face of global geopolitical, economic instabilities and the existential threat of the climate crisis, there has perhaps not been a time whereby engineering ingenuity is more needed to triumph over challenges for humankind than now.
While engineers might not be able to control the weather and the seasons the way dragons do in folk tales, we certainly have the power to create innovative, game-changing solutions to blaze new trails to a better future.
But in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, we will not be able to succeed without continuous upskilling and reskilling. I encourage all of you to embrace lifelong learning to stay at the cutting edge of technological advancements and make meaningful contributions to our society. Let us emulate the dragon’s pioneering spirit and venture into new realms of possibilities and prosperity.
The Lunar New Year is also about family - a joyous time of reunion with families and friends. As the national body and home for engineers in Singapore, IES hopes that our big family of engineers will continue to grow together both professionally and socially in the coming year.
While the road ahead seems to be an uphill battle, let us not be daunted by challenges but approach the Year of the Dragon with renewed confidence, solidarity and hope to build our future together.
I wish all of you and your loved ones a joyous and prosperous Lunar New Year! 祝大家龙年安康,龙年大吉, 龙气冲天,事业腾飞,龙行龘龘, 心想事成。
